Description: In 2007 Hi8us Midlands ran the Boost scheme, a business support programme for new and emerging creative and digital media companies. 40 Young people keen to break into a range of media industries received a raft of support and services. These include individually chosen professional mentors, business planning, marketing and graphic design, supported networking, fundraising, paid events, tailored workshops and exhibition opportunities.

Many made great progress during the course of the project, to the extent that some have incorporated their companies, and a number have secured investment and grant funding.

The scheme icluded all aspects of the Digital Industries:

  • Animation and Interactive media
  • Film and television
  • Music (including radio)
  • Computer gaming and Serious gaming
  • Photography and Digital Imaging

Boost was part of the Digital Central consortium, which is led by the University of Central England and is funded by Advantage West Midlands to promote and develop the digital creative industries’ economy in the West Midlands and set the region apart as a place where exciting and original content is created. Boost was also funded by Equal, a European Social Fund.
